Heredia is the coffee slope just north of San José, cooler than the valley floor. The city is small. The same province runs north through Sarapiquí to the border with Nicaragua, which is a different drive from the square.

Heredia province sits against the north side of the capital, between Alajuela and the highway that drops to Limón. On this site the towns are Heredia and Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí. Barva and the coffee visits sit above the city. Braulio Carrillo, the wet forest on the road to the Caribbean, starts in this province.

The northern lowlands are still Heredia, and they are not a stop on the way to the square. If the plan is Sarapiquí, say so. The city page will not get you there.
