Playa Langosta, Costa Rica
Lying on the Pacific Northwest Coast of Guanacaste, 10 minutes away from Tamarindo’s Domestic airport and less than an hour away from Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia Near Las Baulas National Park, between October and March, it is possible to watch Leatherback turtles nesting in the area. This region is home to a number of endangered species, both terrestrial and marine, along with howler monkeys, giant iguanas, anteaters, green parakeets, and coatis who are also daily visitors.

Natural tide pools are sheltered spots that are ideal for young children to splash about safely. At sunset, enjoy inspiring turquoise and sapphire waters beneath a crimson sky.
Located in a dry tropical forest microclimate, the average temperature is 86F (30C) year around. The summer months (December-April), are very sunny, hot and dry. The rainy season, or ‘Green’ season, is between May and November, however, heavy rain is not expected until the end of the season.
In Tamarindo, 2.5km from Langosta, you can book sportsfishing tours and cook your catch at one of the friendly beachfront restaurants. There is also access to SCUBA diving, snorkeling trips, beach cruises, catamarans, ocean and river kayaking, and sailing cruises; beach gear, surfboards, boogie boards and equipment of all types that are available for rent from specialty stores.
In the dry season, it is possible to go surfing in front of the famous Witches Rock within Santa Rosa National Park, however, you need a 4×4 to get in and out. Palo Verde and Ostional National Wildlife Refuges allow you to view many exotic animals in their natural habitat.
Other adventurous activities include river trips where you can experience a variety of local wildlife, horseback riding in the surrounding lush green mountains, bicycling, backcountry ATV tours, and hot springs.
Just 35 minutes away from Langosta, you can choose from two world class golf courses: Hacienda Pinilla with a back nine just outside Tamarindo, or play at the Hotel Melia Conchal 18 hole championship Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.
All amenities can be found close by in Tamarindo, that boasts over 40 restaurants with worldwide cuisine. Decide between French, Italian, Pacific Rim, Japanese, Mexican, California Cuisine, or typical Costa Rican flavor; there are French bakeries, wonderful coffee shops, delicatessens, and restaurants catering to health-conscious and vegetarian patrons too. There is a wide variety of gift and clothing shops, art galleries, medical clinic, pharmacy, hardware store, a full service bank with ATM machine, real estate offices, Laundromats, and internet cafes.
Fun facts:
Just east of the center of Tamarindo, there is a 3-way intersection. To the left is a road that leads to the largest bank in town. To the right is a road that leads to Langosta. That road circles around, and returns to the road back to Tamarindo.
There is a fair-sized farmers market between the beginning of the road to Langosta every Saturday morning, which has a variety of items for sale, not just food. You will usually find at least a few dozen vendors there. There is also a smaller farmers market in Villareal, at the corner of the soccer field, every Friday morning, but it only has fruits and vegetables.
