The Central South Pacific

The Central Pacific region of Costa Rica is a long swath of gorgeous land, from sublime coastline dotted with national parks to inland stretches of ranches, coffee plantations, small villages, and forested mountains. There’s a reason this is a popular place to visit: the region has a lot of “Pura Vida” to offer. The South Pacific encompasses everything south of San José, down to the border with Panama, and all the territory west of the Talamanca mountains, sloping down to the Pacific coast. World-class mountain hikes and bird-watching abound in the highlands, just south of the capital.

The rainy season here begins in May and goes through November / December. During the rainy season the days often begin with sunshine followed by rain later in the day.
