A 3km horseshoe shaped bay surrounded by steep cliffs and hills. Coco Beach is also a stop-over for surfers wanting to reach places like Ollies Point and Witches Rock where the waves are superb.

The International Airport in Liberia is less than 40km away. From San Jose, you can expect a five hour drive, and if you don’t have a car, buses from either Liberia or San Jose run seven days a week.

How to get there:

From San Jose: Take the Autopista del Sol to Caldera and then turn left after Puntarenas on the Interamerican Highway, Rt. 1. Follow all the way to Liberia. Turn left at the main intersection, Rt.21 and follow to Comunidad. Turn right on Rt. 151 and follow to Coco.

Fun facts:

It is a family friendly beach town.You’ll find tons of families at the beach and the park and local kids playing soccer or skateboarding. Babies playing in the sand, dogs digging holes and toddlers chasing a ball around. Sometimes in the evening, they’ll have events in the park for kids.

It is the North American retirees’ sanctuary.

Playa del Coco is conveniently located 35 kilometers west of Liberia Airport on paved roads making it the most accessible beach from the international airport.
